Planning for the future of Fayette County requires consideration of a wide variety of topics, but at the center of this work are the people whom the plan ultimately seeks to serve. The people of Fayette County are the possessors of a rich history and a unique culture, both of which are key to the quality of life that the county offers. This section will provide an overview of the people who call Fayette County home, and an assessment of the educational opportunities and facilities, which have been invested in heavily in recent years. The general health, safety and well-being of both current and prospective county residents will also be addressed. Finally, the unique culture and heritage of the county will be inventoried, and opportunities for people of all ages to further engage with their community will be identified. In addition to presenting an assessment on each of previously mentioned focus areas, this section will provide a set of goals that have been identified by the public and other key stakeholders. The product of this effort will help to enhance the high quality of life, and retain the rich sense of place that makes Fayette County a desirable place to live, work and play.
